the words weren’t mine

one cannot get intimate just off hand
do you think you have free licence to be
insulting life is wonderful you’re not
a bit like you were yesterday I’m not
going to ask your advice I announced
I served as a surgeon in the Great War
he was a dear old duck like yesterday
you’re entirely different from what I thought
I may have expected you ladylike
dear friend learn as quickly as time allows
there’s no real thing that just doesn’t exist
as a stranger to me pictures matter
at evening out of the dark what happens
by accident becoming verbatim
